Ho Chi Minh City plans to build an innovative urban area in the East

Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Thanh Phong has just issued a decision to issue an Action Plan on the construction of an innovative and highly interactive urban area in the East of the city.

The purpose of the plan is to build and develop the eastern area of the city including District 2, District 9 and Thu Duc into an innovative, highly interactive urban area in the East of the city; leading the city's economy and together with Ho Chi Minh City in knowledge-based economic activities such as training, research and high-tech production.

To achieve the above purpose, the City People's Committee has proposed 7 groups of tasks and solutions. Specifically, solutions on urban development planning; development management in the direction of smart and creative cities; investment in infrastructure construction; the organization of the state management apparatus; development of human resources, development of policy and development management system, communication work.

Among 7 groups of tasks and solutions, notably, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Home Affairs to preside over the development of a project to establish an administrative unit "Eastern City" directly under Ho Chi Minh City. The immediate phase is to advise on the arrangement and merger of 3 districts (districts 2, 9 and Thu Duc).

Along with that, the Office of the City People's Committee shall assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with the Department of Information and Communications, relevant departments and agencies in reviewing, supplementing and adjusting all administrative procedures related to people and businesses according to regulations. direction to shorten the time to handle administrative procedures on land, investment, planning, construction, tax, customs, information technology application at a higher level than the average level of the city to solve requirements of people and businesses.

The Department of Planning and Investment plans and implements cooperation projects with inter-sectoral, inter-district and regional linkages in areas such as infrastructure construction, environment, and human resource development. , promote investment and support the development of high technology and knowledge economy.

At the same time, the Department of Transport is tasked with establishing an Urban Traffic Information Center, building a data collection and analysis system, and developing applications to support public transport to gradually improve operations. movement of the transport network in the region, towards the formation of an intelligent transport system.
